A single number will not tell you whether to sign. What helps is knowing which specific clauses create exposure, how severe each is, and which ones are worth spending negotiating capital on.

How it works

  1. 1

    Load the document

Upload a PDF, Word or text file up to 50,000 characters, or paste the text in directly.

  2. 2

    Say where it applies

Exposure depends on the law that governs it, so the jurisdiction is asked for before anything is scored.

  3. 3

    Choose a depth

Quick Scan for a fast overview of the key risks, Standard Analysis for the usual case, Deep Analysis for a comprehensive exposure review.

  4. 4

    Work down the findings

Risks come back grouped by category and ordered by severity, each linked to the clause that created it — fix the high ones, accept the low ones, and negotiate knowing which is which.

What you get

  • Four risk dimensions

Financial exposure, legal liability, operational burden and compliance obligations — scored separately, because a contract can be financially safe and operationally impossible.

  • Traceable findings

Every score is linked to the specific clause text that produced it. No unexplained verdicts.

  • Severity ranking

Findings are ordered by how much damage they can actually do, so you start at the top rather than working through 40 notes in document order.

  • Comparison over time

Re-run after a redline round and see whether the changes actually moved the risk or just moved the words.

Risk Detection FAQs

What counts as a high-risk clause?

Typically: uncapped liability or indemnity, automatic renewal with a long notice period, unilateral termination or price-change rights, broad IP assignment, personal guarantees, and payment terms tied to conditions outside your control.

Can I check a contract someone sent me?

That is the main use. Upload the version you received, see where it favors the other side, and respond with specifics.

Does a low score mean the contract is safe?

It means the document contains no unusual structural risks. It cannot assess commercial judgment — whether the price is right, whether the counterparty will perform, whether you should be doing the deal at all.

Do the whole thing on your phone

Draft it, check it for risk, rewrite the clauses you do not like, sign it and send it — without opening a laptop.
