4. CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING

By Student/Client:

Rescheduling:

Emergencies:

5. LATE ARRIVAL AND MISSED SESSIONS

Student Late:

• Session ends at scheduled time
• No makeup time for student lateness
• Full fee charged

Tutor Late:

• Lost time added to end of session or credited
• If more than X minutes late, session may be rescheduled

No-Show:

• Full session fee charged
• Repeated no-shows may result in termination

6. TUTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Customize instruction to student's needs
• Provide appropriate materials and resources
• Track student progress
• Maintain professional conduct
• Respect student's learning style and pace
• Communicate regularly about progress
• Maintain confidentiality
• Create supportive learning environment
• Stay current with subject matter

7. STUDENT/PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Student/Parent agrees to:

• Arrive on time and prepared
• Complete assigned homework/practice
• Bring necessary materials
• Provide quiet study environment (if at home)
• Pay fees promptly
• Communicate goals and concerns
• Notify of special needs or learning difficulties
• Respect tutor's time and expertise
• Follow up on tutor's recommendations

8. ACADEMIC HONESTY

Tutor Will:

• Guide student's own work
• Help student understand material
• Review and edit work

Tutor Will NOT:

• Complete homework for student
• Write essays or papers for student
• Take tests on student's behalf
• Violate academic integrity policies

9. PROGRESS MONITORING

13. CONFIDENTIALITY

Student Records: Maintained for duration, then destroyed

14. LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERS

Tutor:

• Is not a licensed teacher (unless indicated)
• Is not a substitute for classroom instruction
• Cannot guarantee specific grades or test scores
• Is not responsible for school placement decisions
• Does not diagnose learning disabilities (refer to specialists)

Results:

Progress depends on student effort, attendance, school instruction, and other factors beyond tutor's control.

15. SPECIAL NEEDS AND ACCOMMODATIONS

Student with Learning Differences:

If student has IEP, 504 plan, or diagnosed learning disability:

• Parent should share relevant information
• Tutor will adapt instruction accordingly
• Tutor may recommend specialists if needed

Not a Substitute for:

Special education services, therapy, or medical treatment.

16. TESTING PREPARATION

If Test Prep Focus:

• Diagnostic test administered

• Practice tests included
• Strategy instruction provided

No Guarantee: Of specific score improvement, but best effort to maximize performance.

17. TERMINATION

Either Party May Terminate:

• With X weeks written notice
• Immediately for cause (breach of agreement, inappropriate behavior, non-payment)

Final Payment: All fees due through last session date

Unused Package Sessions:

• Refund of unused sessions (minus X%)
• Or credit for future sessions
• Subject to minimum commitment being met

Upon Termination:

• Student materials returned
• Final progress report provided
• Recommendations for continued study

18. BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT

Expected Behavior:

• Mutual respect
• Professional interaction
• Appropriate language
• Focus during sessions

Unacceptable:

• Harassment or discrimination
• Aggressive behavior
• Inappropriate comments or conduct
• Substance use during sessions

Consequences: Warning, then termination

19. LIABILITY

Tutor Not Liable For:

• Injury or property damage during sessions (except due to tutor's negligence)
• Student's academic performance
• School disciplinary actions
• Lost or damaged student materials (unless due to tutor negligence)

Insurance: Each party maintains own insurance coverage

Tutor Insurance: Has/Does not have professional liability insurance

If Tutoring at Student's Home:

Student's homeowner's insurance covers accidents at home.

20. BACKGROUND CHECK

Tutor: Has/Has not undergone background check

Verification: Available upon request

21. TECHNOLOGY USE

During Sessions:

• Use of devices for tutoring purposes only
• Student's devices may be used for reference
• No social media during sessions
• No photography/recording without consent

Online Safety:

• Secure platforms used
• No sharing of personal information beyond necessary
• Parental controls recommended

22. INCLEMENT WEATHER

Severe Weather:

• In-person sessions canceled if schools closed
• Automatically convert to online session (if possible)
• Or reschedule
• No charge if adequate notice

23. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Issues Should Be:

• Discussed directly and promptly
• Resolved through good faith communication
• Mediated if necessary

24. MODIFICATIONS

Changes to this agreement must be:
